Who Is Alt- Magazine?
We’re new, we’re young and we’re learning as
we go along. In creating Alt- we tried to envision what you wanted. We came up
with Alt- and it’s sister website being Milwaukee’s premier information sources
for discovering new and alternative music, entertainment, artists, designers,
economics, dining and bars and everything our staff and reader’s find “Alt” in
our great city.
Why Are You Doing This?
We noticed that the best events in the city we ever heard of were through word
of mouth. We want to bring those things to you so we can live vicariously. If
you hear of or are putting on something unique in the city we want to know about
it. We have an entire team of overworked, underpaid staff members just waiting
for your email at www.info@altdash.com.
Will You Do An
Article On Me?
Yes. It may be inadvertent and not mention
your name a lot (or at all) but it is on you. Milwaukee has a ton of talent; it
just needs to be exposed to the public. If you are out there doing what you love
and even if your only fan is your Mom, we may still cover you. Don’t be afraid
of self-promotion; you’re not selling out if you wake up some day and can afford
toilet paper and a six-pack of beer.
Who is Our
Readership?
Good question, we don’t know yet. We know the
demographic but not the concrete numbers (and we don’t like to lie) so we invite
anyone and everyone to join in our wild ride. It’s very equal opportunity.
Why is the Content so Eclectic?
We realized that we are
all very different people with a common goal. We thought it was silly to try to
stick everyone in the same box because people are unique. Our staff is given
creative freedom to pursue areas that they are passionate about. And Alt- is
passionate about giving a voice to the people.
When Does
the Magazine Come Out?
Pick up our free quarterly print
magazine at local hotspots October 2008. By local hotspots we mean anyplace you
would normally hang out (inside the building and not out in front of it).
Why Free and Quit Complaining?
Not to get preachy or
anything but people in America admittedly take our freedom for granted. We put
rules and regulations and lawsuits on these freedoms and make them more
complicated than they ever should be. Alt- loves that we have freedom of speech.
That being said, we will publish any hate mail that comes in, verbatim or just
excerpts of the good parts. Rock on America.
